Default ? for you scent elimination gurus

OK so I shoot this nice doe last night right. I see her go down so I give her 2 hrs and get on the trail. Half way to her I have to pee and I mean PEE! So I whip it out and take care of buisness knowing that I am not hunting in there for another week or so anyway. Then I continue on to find my doe. Alast there she is, only to find out that I have no knife on me. Now we walk back to the truck to get it. Well I head out of the swamp to the west, my truck is to the east but it is much easier walking that way. Only to find no knife. Oh thats right I put it in my pack (which is still up in the tree) so iI head back to my stand, grab the knife and once again follow the blood/foot tracks in the snow. I get to where nature called and now there is not 1 but 3 pee holes in the snow, with fresh deer tracks in front of them. From the first time i passed through here to now is maybe 45 minutes. So back to my question. Why do we worry about scent controll as much as we do, if these dang deer dont seem to bother with fresh human urine? Not only that they seem to cover it up like dogs would or on a scrape.

I've heard of this before. This is only opinion, but I don't think human urine smells like human B.O. In other words, it just smells like another animal urine and not associated with danger. I am only guessing though.

Maybe it is possible that the deer were younger deer that have not been educated and have not made the association between human urine and danger.I would bet that a mature buck that is not in rut would probably bolt if he came across human urine.Just a quess.

Heck,I stay in rut.[]

I don't spend any money on pee. Do you business in a scrape next year and watch what happens.

It sounds like he's already made 3 scrapes of his own ...

I wish I could remember where I read the study, but it was very interesting. They made 3 scapes along the same trail, all within a few yards of each other. One they put human urine, another WD-40, and another deer urine. All 3 scrapes received the same amount of traffic, and deer spent as much time on one as another. I've had many bucks and does sniffin' around my tree after I've taken a leak. I'm super fanatical about my scent control and using the wind, but I don't hesitate to take a wiz from the stand.

I've heard and read enough anecdotal evidence to convince me that deer do not spook at the scent of human urine. If it looks, smells, and steams in the cold like pee, then it's just pee. Same goes for B.O. If it smells like a human...

The study I saw was this,

Video and still cameras were setup on several scrapes containing 4 scents. The 4 scents were buck urine, doe urine, human urine and new car smell...that's right, new car smell.

The scrapes that were visited the most by both bucks and does were the ones containing buck urine and the ones containing human urine and the study states they were visited equally.

The scrapes containing doe urine and the ones containing new car smell were visited equally as well but not equal to the ones with buck or human urine in them.

Conclusion, buck urine is a better attractant then doe and they can't determine that human urine is in fact from humans.

That doesn't change my mentallity on being as scent free as I can be.
