Killed 4 deer in the last 2 years with my WB...........1 at 20 yards and the other 3 were inside of 15 yards.........when I found them I asked them all if they heard anything when I drew.......none of them said yes

I had a Bodoodle Pro with moleskin on the speedfins and it was absolutely silent but changed to the WB this year and haven't had an opportunity to find out if they can hear it or not. But I do get some noise when drawing back. I have the large alum biscuit and shooting 2413 Super Slams with plenty of clearance. I was definitely getting noise on the draw. I waxed the arrows and that seemed to help. I also shoot ICS Hunter Elite 340's through the same biscuit and actually get some noise from them also. I've trimmed the bristles a little and may need to trim them some more. I love the WB and while the noise is not too loud I've wondered how it will be with a deer close. Hopefully I'll find out before the season's up.

Jeez,10 pages of this!
I shot 2 deer so far this year with a WB,first year I've used one.
Neither deer heard anything. One at about 8 yards, one at at about 25
I have shot a lot of arrows thru it practicing, maybe that helps?
I like it so far.

Remember you may only have been 9 yards away but you were elevated as well so your sound (if any) is still quite a distance away from those ears. Unless the deer was looking at you there was no way you could have known for sureyou would have been busted. The only way you would have been able to tell is if you drew back your bow. But then your post would have been something like "I shotmy first deer and the Whisker Biscuit is the cats meow"
I will take the pros this rest has to offer over any of the "presumed" consit has. I believe it's just a matter of time before you realize this is a great hunting rest andresume the ranks
Good luck to ya and good hunting

You know....I'm a former PGA Professional.....and I used to get into similar "discussions" about equipment with guys all the time. The guys who utilized components in lieu of OEM equipment would always cite that their equipment was superior (and vice-versa). I also plan on shooting some 3D tournaments this year, too. It just seems that all the guys being really, consistently successful in 3D shoots utilize a drop-away type rest, as well.
It's just funny how 2 sports can have VERY similar arguments.
For the record.....I still own 2 bows with WB's on them (Although I don't happen to shoot either of them....lol). I think it's a wonderful rest.....and if not for the noise...it would still be on my bow. Yes....I nearly got busted by a deer @ nine yds....due to the noise being created by my carbon arrow across the WB bristles. Fact.

Jeff,
I never said the Whisker Biscuit was"superior" to any other rest. I believe drop aways are good rests.
All I'm saying is I don't think the Whisker Biscuit makes the noise you are claiming it makes. I have killed many deer at many ranges and never did the deer hear my arrow being pulled along the biscuit.
I have also drawn on a deer that I thought had no idea I was there and they somehow sensed something was wrong and went on alert. They didn't bolt (some did) but were on alert. Obviously the deer you were trying to kill was standing somewhat broadside because you decided to take the shot.At 9 yards there is a good possibility he picked up some slight movement from you and that's why he did what he did. For you to just arbitrarily blame the Whisker Biscuit is wrong.
I know in your heart you think that's what caused the deer to go on alert. But there will come a time when the same thing happensagain, what will you blame then? The longer you spend in the woods in close proximity to deer the more you will learn about their behaviors.
Spend some time watching deer move through the woods (especially does) and you will notice one thing for sure. They stop OFTEN, they are always onthe look out and it doesn't take much for them to stop dead in their tracks for minutes on end as frozen as can be,before they will move again.
If this rest made the kinda noise you claim it did, no one would use it. I think you may have jumped ship too soon. Either way good luck hunting and I am sure you will enjoy your drop away rest, they are good rests.

Just cough, yell, or fart real loud just as your drawing back!! They will never hear the noise from the WB [:@]'
I have shot dozens of deer using a WB and have never noticed one that heard me draw, but Im sure its possible depending on what type of carbon you shoot and what weight tip you use. Try using a heavier or lighter field tip and draw a few times, sometimes more weight will actually reduce the arrow hopping or making noise, or, lightening an arrow will also stop it in cases, just try light all the way to heavy field tips and let me know, I'll bet you that will fix any of your noise problems.

Oh I believe you and Im not trying to argue Jeff, just the opposite. Im sure it did make a noise as I know the WB will depending on what your shooting etc .... hence me posting about trying different weight tips and drawing to see if your noise goes away, field tips are cheap, just give it a try and you can thank me later
