Couldn't be picky on the last evening...
After a many many hours out in my stand this season, I decided to take off work Thursday (yesterday) to hunt one more day. When I woke up that morning and headed out, the thermometer read a whopping 4 degrees, but I headed out anyways. Needless to say, I could only sit out there until 8:30 before I had to go in. When I got in, the thermometer now read 7 degrees. Around one that afternoon, I headed out for the last evening of the archery season. About 45 minutes into the hunt, I seen a six pointer about 100 yards out. I decided to see what he did before making any calls, because there was a good chance he could come in without any calls. Starting to walk the opposite direction, I hit "the can" call. The first time he buck looked my way, then put his head back down. So I hit it again. The buck then made a 180 and started walking my direction. He came to about 40 yards away, then stopped at the fence. The buck was looking in my direction for a doe, but when he didn't see one, he turned around and started walking away again. So I hit the can one more time. As soon as the buck heard the last call, again he made a 180 and started coming in again, this time jumping the fence. I pulled back when he was behind a tree, but he was coming straight it, facing right at me. The buck was now about 10 yards away, right under my stand, so I let the arrow go. The 100 grain Muzzy broadhead did it's job as the buck only went 20 yards and died. Although he isn't the biggest buck, for being the last night of the season, it sure ended right. I will have to post some pics when I get a chance. I sure love my BOWTECH!!
