Default Mock scrape working well so far...

I visited the mock scrape last night that I shot my buck off of a week and a half ago and there is definitely increased activity there. I would guess mostly does at this point, judging from the hoof print sizes, but there are a couple of gouges in the dirt that weren't there a week ago. I have a scent dripper hanging over the scrape, with synthetic scents by Hawg's, and it appears to be working fine. I refilled it last night. Somewhere around the 23rd or so of this month I'm gonna switch the scent dripper to a rut type scent, or Active Scrape. Right now it is a pre-rut scent that is primarily a regular urine type scent, WITHOUT estrus scents. I truly believe, from what I have read, that estrus scents too early spook the deer. I'll keep you posted.

BTW, the little lady has 'agreed' to let me fill my second permit if I get some things done around the house that have been on the Honey-Do list for a while. Needless to say, I'm working my butt off to be done by the last week in October when early Rut activity starts. Wives can be so understanding some times <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I remember your other post, I'm glad to hear your wife has agreed to the second tag. Keep us posted about this scrape. I have one sitting in my closet, not sure if/when i want to use it.

Good luck with that tag man. My scrape isn't doin too good. Nothing goes in it really. Although there's signs of deer activity all around and a couple days ago after i put fresh scent down a huge scrape went up a tree is that a good sign.?

This is encouraging. I'm gonna start my mock scrape this weekend, also with BF. Do you use the gland scent on the licking branch as well?

I'm gonna open a big primary scrape that a buck used last year between a doe bedding area and a food source. Now that the winter wheat is coming up, they should start using this corridor again. I have my finger's crossed. I hit his scrape with BF a few times last year, but didn't really hunt him, as I was on another big buck on another property. Didn't get him, but someone did, so I'm gonna focus on this guy and area this year.
