Mock scrape working well so far...
I visited the mock scrape last night that I shot my buck off of a week and a half ago and there is definitely increased activity there. I would guess mostly does at this point, judging from the hoof print sizes, but there are a couple of gouges in the dirt that weren't there a week ago. I have a scent dripper hanging over the scrape, with synthetic scents by Hawg's, and it appears to be working fine. I refilled it last night. Somewhere around the 23rd or so of this month I'm gonna switch the scent dripper to a rut type scent, or Active Scrape. Right now it is a pre-rut scent that is primarily a regular urine type scent, WITHOUT estrus scents. I truly believe, from what I have read, that estrus scents too early spook the deer. I'll keep you posted.
BTW, the little lady has 'agreed' to let me fill my second permit if I get some things done around the house that have been on the Honey-Do list for a while. Needless to say, I'm working my butt off to be done by the last week in October when early Rut activity starts.
