Gotta share this with you.

I have had some luck in the early season using a fawn bleat. (I like a little distress in the call) I purchaced one of the "cans" (the small one) because I thought it had the right sound to simulate a fawn bleat.

This week while hunting our pasture in central Texas, things got a little slow so I broke out my new toy and gave it a couple of bleats. Now we have a few cows on the pasture and a few small calfs. Obviously, my can must sound more like a "calf" in distress than a deer cause as soon as I finished my little bleat session the cows came a running. They circled me for 45 minutes bellering and raising holly hell looking for that lost calf. Needless to say no deer came around and I left my "can" in the bag for the rest of the trip...Good Luck...Fletch

FLO,
yeah, I said that earlier, I had my finger over the hole and it just made a weak sound.

I think they're just really sensitive to any dirt or water that gets in there. Like I said, I'm keeping mine in a zip loc bag from now on.
