Default You Shoulder Shot a Deer, did you?

I have hit 3 in the shoulder and it sucks, but I believe the shoulder shot is the worst place to put an arrow in a deer. I am 0-3, I have tracked 2 deer this year(friends) shot in th shoulder and came up with zip. Please be honest, yes it sucks, but I would like to see what the % are. We all know hit them were you should, but in life the plan does not always work out.

Technically it wasn't the shoulder blade itself, but a couple years ago I put a spitfire through the femur of a 100 pound spike (I was still hunting and shot him at 20 yards).

The femur was shattered and the arrow penetrated enough to get the heart.

Had it been a bigger deer with thicker bones, I might not have got him.

STOP SHOOTIN EM IN THE SHOULDER

I have hit two deer squarein the shoulder. the first was a doe that I hit with my 170 fps bow and 85 grain broadhead. the muzzy went right through the shoulder, through the heart and the head made it out the other side. deer went 30 yards down hill. But then you couldn't get a shot more centered in the heart.

My second was a buck last year. he ran like the dickens for 100/150 yards before we found him. hardly any blood.

are you using huge cutting diameter expandables? I don't use expandables because I'm scared of what would happen if i hit the shoulder directly.

Unless you hit the joint, a shoulder shot can be very deadly with enough KE and sharp chisel point fixed blades.

I only use fixed, Muzzy then, now Montec. Now this is 3 out 45 I have shot. I think the biggest factor was they were qrt to me. Which I have not shot one qrt to me in 10 years. Have not lost one since, but all 3 you heard the arrow whack the shoulder
