hit a buck kinda high tonight like 4 inch off the top of the deer but it was only about 7 yards out what are the chances of catching one lung? and how long will the deer take to die? i decided to wait until tom morning real early to go out.

Were you shooting from a treestand? Did you look for your arrow or find blood? You may have caught the aortic artery if you were lucky. You did the right thing to wait until the morning. Good luck!
BTW: how big was the buck?

Good luck Dude.
Not a good vital shot between the lungs and backbone. A high shot as that will produce very little blood making trailing very difficult. There may even be a possibility that the wound may fester over and heal. See if youcan get a dog while the scent is fresh would be a good possibility also. That type of shot is a very tough find, but do everything you possibly can do to find it ASAP.

You'll be fine on the temp Here in Oregon Its 90 deg. during our bow season and about 50 at night I just gut and skin as soon as possible and I have hung meat in the shade in game bags for two days in 70 Plus and not had one go bad yet. Take some Hydrogen poroxide in a spray bottle with you in the morning it'll fome up when it hits blood. Good luck

Well if you hit him high, you must have hit him ABOVE the spine, otherwise you would have either spined him, or double lunged him. If you were high enoug in the tree and the deer was only 7 yrds out, its possible you could have caught one lung on the other side, but thats not likely. Last time I hit a deer high about the spine my feathers were sticking out just like yours and there was NOT a drop of blood.
Get out and look, and good luck. Hope you find him.
