Default The Rain and scent?

OK....i am not sure on this one....but if it rains, does this wash away scent or does it allow the scent to stay around longer? i have always though that the rain would wash scent away cause today i hung my climber and the ground was really wet still from the rains.....since then it has rained again.....i think this is good for my bow site....anyone have a true answer to this question?

Well Ive often wondered about this too. I love it when I go to the stand and it rains the next day. I think it washes everything out of the area and makes it fresh again. They say a whitetail has trouble smelling in the rain. Just make sure your scent free and hope that the rain does clean the area. The smell of the fresh rain itself could throw the deers senses off. Now I think if your in the woods hunting and it starts raining I think that your scent could be trapped into the water molecules and if a deer so happened to come by ya, he might smell ya. who knows, if I start thinking about all of this it will just make me even more scent cautious I dont think I can be anymore scent free.

When possible I'll try and hang my stands right before
a good rain, washing away any ground scent I've left in
the area.

No expert here either, but my feeling is that after a good rain any scent you've left behind gets washed away. On the other hand, after a good rain and you enter the woods and everything's still wet I feel that the deer can pick up your scent better. I relate it to hunting dogs. They track better when the ground is wet/damp than they can with everything dry and dusty.

Just my opinion...
