BIG bucks in THICK cover ... ???

RE: BIG bucks in THICK cover ... ???
My rule is I never hunt where he lives in the early season. I want him to feel safe and secure, once the rut starts I will go in after him. I set the stand in his bedding area in March or April. I cut my lanes clean up my tree and put the spikes in. Right around Aug I sneek out in my Scent-Lok and rubber boots and cloves and put the stand up. I wait until the pre-rut starts then I hunt the stand only in the morning and the wind is correct. This tatic has got me two nice bucks the last 2 years. Great book called "Hunting High Pressured Whitetails". The guy is from Michigan were I hunt and his tactics really work.

I have seen many times that when you cut a access trail that the deer automatically start using it themselves. So you really have to be careful not to stink things up to much when entering. And shooting lanes are always a good idea. Good luck on the honey hole.
