Default Too Big a Heart!!

I finally got my wife out in the stand with me this season. She's hunted for a couple of years now and shot a doe her first year out.

I have a spot set where I have two stands in a big Cottonwood tree. Every night I've sat thereI have seen at least five deer per night so I new we would have a close in counter with something.

To make a long storie short she had a doe full draw at 12 yards broadside when two of her yearling's stepped out...........She couldn't pull the trigger and she let her walk. She was a little bummed out about it, But I told her not to shoot if your not going to be happy about it. The last thing I want is for her to quit hunting because she feels guilty about a kill she has made! Hope fully we can get a loan doe or a buck in front of her soon!!

You did the right thing by telling her not to worry about it. I have heard more stories like this one this year than ever before. Everyone has to make their own decision on what to shoot and what not to.

it's part of bowhunting your not going to kill every deer that comes into bow range. Other reasons for passing, not the right shot angle, deer not big enough, obstructions in the way, and too many to think of right now.

Bird Hunt.......what a great husband you are....first for getting your gal out in the woods hunting with you and second, for not coming down on her for not shooting. You could have ruined the whole deal right there. We gals seem to have a problem shooting the moms with babys. Congratulations.
Mrs. Bird Hunt.....Way to go girl!! Hope you get your chance at a nice deer. The way things go, you'll probably end up with a real trophy. My husband and I love hunting together.....although in separate trees...he makes too much noise for me.... Good Luck!

I believe you did the right thing. She should feel comfortable and shoot when and if she want's to.Hunting is an individual thing, everyone has a right to decide what it means to them and to do what they wish within the confines of the law.Your response was right on the money, showing consideration and encouragement!Nice job!
