I personally like to see them both obviously. But if one over the other meant getting me pumped it would be scrapes. Our bow season coincides with scraping activity and shows the onset of the upcoming rut. That's when the bucks are cruisin more and start expanding their territory and that means I'm a happy hunter!

Scrapes are a nice indicator of what's going on in the woods when I'm not there ,but I haven't had much success setting up stands based on scrapes.
I get more excited when I see a nice long rub line , especially on big trees. I think a rub line is more of a indicator of a bucks travel pattern , moreso than scrapes anyway.

Neither really. Like someone suggested, the scrapes are an indicator of what's in and what's going on. I never had a lot of success hunting OVER a scrape, but more figuring out where he came from, and went to and then planning my attack. Finding the best ambush spot and going to work. Rubs are nice in that if it's big trees you can determine it's probably big buck... but rubs are not as territorial or revisted as scrapes or scrape lines.

I agree... there's just something about a scrape thoughthat gets me goin! It's been my experience that they are visited mostly at night but it's a good bet you can find a good little rub line within the same area and get a good determination of the bucks travel route which in turn gives you more of an idea what to do next (morning vs. night travel runs).

I think scrapes more than rubs. I see quite a few rubs on the trees in my area but scrapes are few and far between, even during the rut. I don't put much stock in them in terms of hunting over them but do like to see how they tie into general buck activity in my area.

The truth be known.... those Florida twins, Huntma and Huntngirl turn me on more than either rubs or scrapes.
