hey yall,,i thank you for all the help u provided,,,and i have another question for u,,on my call,,u can set it to reproduce a "doe grunt",,my question is where and when would u use this type of call,,and what does it "mean"
My advice...sit out in the woods until you hear a doe "grunt" and then with your observation perhaps you could interpret what it "means". I've heard deer make most every sound I think possible but that has taken better than 15 years....bluntly, quit worrying about all of the "calling". Deer are not ducks, you need to scout them and understand WHERE they are and WHENthey are there so you can be there too and quit concerning yourself so much with having a conversation with them.

When it hits the rut, absolutely nothing works better for me than rattling heavy antlers. As long as you have decent buck to doe ratio in your area this tactic will work great. I smash the horns together, and grunt along with them to simulate a knock-down drag out fight. I've called in more big bucks using this tactic than any other.

In the rut make aggressive calls, 6-10 sec. sequences, but do not make the grunt to deep, deer around might leave b/c they might here a grunt deep enough to be the "dominant buck." A very deep grunt could run off 1, 2 and even some 3 year old deer.

liljim
so instead of using a deep grunt use a grunt from say a young buck,,or maybe even a deep doe grunt,,,,,

i went to bowsite and found one of thier articles on calling,,,,and this only confused me a little more,,so my question is what is the differents between the lost call the doe bleat and the estrus bleat,,,to me they all sound the same except for the loudness of the calls,,and if they are all basically the same call could i not use my "can" for doe bleats and maybe have a few does come in to it????i maybe getting into more than i thought?
