"If they would put a muzzy type tip on it and make the ferrule tip solid....I'll be giving them a good testing again...."

Actually that has been pretty much done, by Rocket with the naildriver. 5shot's review was impressive, you're just not going to get as much damage without that small lead blade at 90 degrees. I think that the issue on the Snyper at least in the case of whitetails, for me is, don't hit the near side shoulder. And I'll tell you it's been a concern all along. How many times has 5shot made the qualification: "For deer sized game". Boy does that seem prescient now.

CG one thing I'm sure of is you're pretty smart. You didn't want to stir things up just a little, make people think? Maybe just a little?

CG, You've really got everyone going. I haven't read so much on one subject for a long time. I think some of the guys are not plagued with coyotes, coons, possums, skunks, etc.. which I shoot anywhere I can and dispatch them as swiftly as possible. Ethical extermination. I do not shoot mechanicals. If I did I'd follow 5 Shots advice. He's a regular guy and has tested just about everything. Glad you told your story and enjoyed reading most of the replies. Even got a chuckle out of the crap some guys wrote. terry

Man, this thread took a turn for the ugly. I don't know why anyone would get upset with CG. He just reported what happened to him. I think people get angry because they spend their hard earned money on a product and get their hopes built up that the product will do a wonderful job for them. Then, when someone like CG reports finding otherwise those that own that product get angry because they feel like they've wasted their money and instead of being angry with the product or the manufacturer, they shoot the messenger (i.e. CG).

The only thing that upset me in this entire thread was Belle Island's assessment that people who use mechanicals are lazy and don't know how to tune a bow. To say that, especially on this board, is ridiculous. I know there are guys out there that shoot mechanicals because they either don't want to or don't know how to broadhead tune. Instead of bashing them, maybe we should help them so if they want to shoot a fixed head they have that option. How receptive to instruction do you think they will be though if they are told that they are lazy and ignorant of tuning skills?

CG,
Don't let the idiots get you down. You posted real world information and some people just don't see the value in that. They would rather rely on the fancy magazine adds to get their information so let them. We all know a company would NEVER exaggerate the quality of it's products. You keep posting the real thing and maybe one day the idiots will catch on.

Krisken,
SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the only advice I could give you to make you seem a little more intelligent.

Head and neck shot on a coyote??? Whatever works to take the darn things out. I've never even seen a real one, but we now have them in every part of South Carolina. If I do see one, you can bet I'll be doing my best put an arrow in whatever part of it I can see.

The difference between a good manufacturer and a bad one is that a good one will heed the feedback of it's customers, whether it's good or bad and make improvements where necessary. Any manufacturer that won't accept constructive criticism is just not worth it's salt.

CG, thanks for sharing,...and a big to your response to krisken.

I have had unbelievable results with miniblasters and will continue to use them until they fail ME!

As far as the yote and head shots,...listen up krisken: I will INTENTIONALLY shoot a yote in the gut, just so the "piece of **** animal" dies a slow agonizing inhumane death!!! For that matter, the same goes for a fox, skunk, coon, any animal of the rodent family and cats!! Yep cats!!!
Don't ANYONE waste their breath getting on the "ammo for the anti's" BANDWAGON with me either. I'm SICK of that one TOO!!!

Say, Bowfanatic, what's with using rubber bands on the spitfires, Are you trying them without the little pressure piece that normally holds them closed? If so, why? I must of missed something along the lines, 'cause I hadn't heard of this idea before. Fill me in!

5shot did some testing with the spitfire using rubber bands instead of the clips to hold the blades closed and the results were better. I tried myself and got the same results , the blades opened faster with the rubber bands.

Buckfevr,
I guess what I see as the real advantage to the snyper is the rearward opening blades.......Trocar tip with rearward opening blades sounds like a fantastic head to me......hope some manufacturer tries it.... And I guess I just wanted everyone to have ALL the facts not just the glory stories....I got caught up in the "bandwagon" effect and should have done a little more testing on these heads instead of just running off and trying to kill things...maybe this will let people slow down and think about what they're purchasing or going to use...it may be that what they bought or have is perfect for their needs but at least now they might think about it....

CG...thanks for posting what happened, it's always good to hear a factual report(of success or failure), whether you like it or dislike it. And good for you for not letting the whiner's get to you. Now...get back out there (with a muzzy or a magnus this time )
