Trail Cam Height???
#1
I have the Moultrie Feeders trail cam but I have been having a little trouble getting it to pick up my deer.I've been putting it about 3 1/2'-4' up the tree, should I lower it?I've been messing around with it and it seems like the sensor is'nt sensitive enough. When I first bought itI don't remember having these problems. Is their anything I could be doing to cause these problems?
Thanks,

I have the same problem. I put my stealth cam up behind my feeder by about 50 yards on a trail that goes to the feeder. I went to get the film developed and all the deer had already walked past when it took the picture. So now i'm going to set it up looking at the feeder. If you don't use feeders then i was told to make sure the camera is facing north b/c of the sun or something has something to do with it making the camera less sensative to take pics.

It doesnt really matter how high you have the camera on the tree. The most important thing is that your sensor, which shoots out perpendicular from the camera, is pointing low enough or high enough to hit midway on a deer. If you put the camera low on a tree you might have to put a stick behind it to prop up the bottom of it or vice versa with the top. Everytime i move my camera to a new tree, i get down on my knee's beside it and make sure that the sensor will hit about 3ft off the ground on the trail/bait, or where ever you plan on getting pictures. Hope this helps.

If I'm trying to catch deer, I put mine at about 3 foot from the ground. Come closer to turkey season I'll make it more like 2 feet. Ditto what fatsbucknut said. Get the camera perpendicular to the ground so the sensor isn't angled up or down too much.

I usually set the camera where the sensor(laser) is about 3ft high. Not many pics my last fewtries, lots of deer tracks and no corn.I went ahead and tried lowering it to about knee high, maybe a little less just to try it out.I'll update and let you guys know if this works for me.
