Spooked a nice Ten...now What
Here in sw Ohio the other night and kicked up a ten pointer where i had just moved a new stand. He was bedded about 100 yards behind my stand. I continued scouting and damned the luck, i kicked him up again about two hours later across a the field by another timber line.
I know which route hes using and am wondering if i am doomed, or will he forget all about the encounter by 1 oct
Also, im new to ohio, is it too early to start creating mock scrapes, i havent seen any yet nor any rub.
Or is there another effective method for getting this big boy before the Slug Slingers get him?

If you know his route, and you have a climber, I'd say GO GET HIM! Any time I've kicked deer up I don't worry about it, I would be worried if you spooked while IN/ON stand...then you would need to worry.

Im in PA so we are dealing with about the same seasonal changes . Its not too early to start making mock scrapes . Just dont go putting doe urine on them yet . as the season progresses say towards the end of october i start scenting them up .

Just hunt ,he wont move to florida , due to phyisical problems i hunt the same place for 3 months for years. I always get 2 or 3 deer. I had a small buck for 2 years come by and stop off at a distance and always look my way.I know he new I was there.I became such a regular for him to look at and seemed like he always said hello.

If you kicked him out of his bed, I am going to guess that you are way too close to him for comfort. If youmust hunt that area, I'd put the stand on his trail to the bedding area and get there waaaayyyy before first light, and only do so if the wind is perfect.
If it were me, I'd back out of there and find where he likes to be when he is not bedded and put a stand there and another stand on the way there. You don't want to monkey with a buck's bedroom. Good luck.

I would suggest backing off the immediate area you saw him in and just focus on likely spots that are nearby that area. Spooking him again is only going to make the situation worse.

I would leave the area alone for a few days and then I would hunt it from the outside in.Meaning area's in the same locale but no where near you jumped him.See what kind of activity takes place,in my home area if a mature buck gets pressure in the early season they will go nocturnal very fast. The benefit of being overly cautious is that it leaves you the opportunity to keep at it versus blowing him out of the area.
