whats your hunting routine?

What do you guys usually do this time of year to attract a buck in? So far I know is to set your stand up near active trails but is there anything else you guys usually do this time of year? This is my second year as a bowhunter and I just bought a climber.

I went scouting yesterday to a spot I found several rubs and scrapes last year. The stream that flowed thru there last year is dried up now. Yesterday I never saw any rubs and couldnt find any acorns or anything that I thought a deer would eat. Would it be a good idea to try and find a water hole of some type or move on somewhere else? The only reason I looked at this spot was of what I saw from last year. Thanks for the suggestions.

Attempt to find where they are feeding and walk their runways back to their bedding area's,by now there should be rubs and scrapes being made.Rubs and scrapes are directional as of course tracks are try to figure out where you can set up by not having your scent blow across the area you intend to hunt or expect the deer to be coming from. There should be a lot of smoking hot sign showing up now, play it right and you should have opportunities.
This is a thumbnail sketch but it should give you a good start.

cardeer: I don't think I'll set up that early but I plan to sit in the dark for a little while.
My problem is that I can find the oaks but can't see any acorns on the ground. This place was tore up last year but I cant seem to find that much sign this year. Ive seen a doe each time I have went into the woods though.
