Ritual - Do you do anything symbolic after the kill
#52
About the only "symbolic" thing I do is...carry my blessed necklace from Cardeer.
I'm not the superstitious type. And I don't kill a whole lot of deer either...

I thought about doing the blood on the face tradition, but that is disrespectful.

I guess there is really no other way to ask this besides just asking.
After field dressing the deer, does anyone else, place the buck's private area up in the crotch of a tree for good luck?

Personally...no ritual, I just give thanks.

I went hunting with a guy once. He said a bunch ofcompliments to the deer ,like how fast he was, powerfull and smart ect..... He said" he was told that the deers soul wouldent leave the deerin peace". Instead it would hold a grudge with thehunter unless the hunter showed respect for the animal he just killed. I think his friend was part native american, or really stoned or maybe even both. As far as the deers nut's go , I know in the vietnam war thatafter the viet cong or ( VC )killed yousome of them would cut your nuts and your pecker off and stick them in your mouth . They belived your soul would'ent go to heaven.

It's just an animal. We kill for the thrill and the meat not to show it's manhood to every hunter who walks by. That, in my opinion is sort of stupid. I mean would you wnat to have yours put in a tree? Anyways, just kill the deer and do it as quikly and cleanly as possible.
