I just had an owl fly at me last saturday morning. It was my first , and it scared the crap out of me. I've heard about it before and remember reading an article about it. The article said something about birds of prey seeing the fletchings on your arrows and them thinking it's dinner It happened to me when I was putting my quiver back on my bow , so there might be some truth to that. From now on I'll try and keep my fletchings concealed.
At least it got you to recognize the importance of a safety harness!

Wow, incredible story! Glad to hear you had the composure to catch yourself and avoid a potential tragedy. My .02 says check out the "Hunter Safety System". I purchased on about a month ago and have been hunting with it for 3 weeks now....it is Definitely the best! It's a 5pt safety harness built into a hunting vest with 4 perfectly placed pockets for grunts, calls, scents, binos, etc. (this is starting to sound too much like a commercial...sorry) You'll never need anything else. I think it is worth much more than the $99 pricetag.
