I am interested in trying one of the compact rangefinders, and was wondering what is a good one to use strictly for tree stand hunting, and one that doesn't eat batteries for lunch? Thanks and good luck this season. Bhunter32.

For bowhunting I don't think you could beat the Bushnell Scout. It used to chew batteries but from everything I've been told or read, Bushnell fixed thjat problem. I have a scout and love it. Small, compact, ranges out to around 700 yards or so. It also has a scan mode for taking readings on moving targets. I remove the battery after each hunt to help preserve them a little longer. It's never been an issue with me.

I have the Bushnell Sport and it is great value for the money.
I dont have some of the features of the more expensive ones but it is perfect for bow hunting.

BH32, I have a Bushnell Sport. I couldn't see spending over $100. more to do basically the same thing. See how far away something is. Like Ausie said, it doesn't have the extra features, but it does the job. It's a little bigger than the Scout, but not much. It's still plenty small enough so as not to be a pain to carry.

hey b! shoot a fast bow and you might not have to worry about a range finder. you know what i mean. what is you're comfort range on the yardage. i like to shoot practice out to 40yrds and that makes anything seem real close. i do shoot at no more than 20 though. good luck.

I just got the yardage pro scout last week, I really like it, BUT, at the 3-D range this weekend, I found that I could not range a target through a window. In other words, the target, we estimated at 32 yrds., and there was a window nearly the size of the target, and I couldn't keep the range finder from picking up the tree limbs at 15 to 20 yrds. It is easy to use, but am surprised that it wouldn't range that target.

For me the ranging TLR 75 ,no batteries,no false reading from limbs and such accurate to + or - 1 yrd. at 50 yrds.And it leaves you with about 110.00 bucks left to spend on other stuff!But then again I'm not too hip on all that electro stuff any way,Heck I just got a computer last year,and type with two fingers LOL!
