The weather is still going to bo a little warm here in Illinois-for opener of bow season. Would using a mosquito repellent be bad for scent-elimination. Any suggestions would help. Illinois is the leading state for west nile deaths and cases.

I think its something everyone should consider. Here in VA about 20 miles from here to people were just diagnosed with Malaria from Mosquitos on Thursday. And the west nile death count continues to rise. A buddy of mine found a mosquito repellent that seemed to be scentless a few years ago but I can't remember for the life of me what it was. I think I'll try to find something with the lightest scent and use it. If you know how to set yourself up with the wind and the direction of the deer then you shouhldn't have much to worry about. Its better to be safe than sorry.

DEET is a good, no make that excellant repellant, yet it has a strong odor so it needs a stong cover scent.
Permanone has no odor, but it is not a repellant. It will kill the skeeters that land on you, but will take around 5 minutes to do that. Pretty soon more skeetrs take their place. It will also kill ticks, fleas. flies, etc.
Your best protection is being high in a tree.

I just picked up a bottle of repellent from wal mart called Repel Hunters insect repellent, it contains an earth scent and 52.25% deet. I've used it twice and saw plenty of deer. I think it cost me somewhere around $3.00; supposed to repel chiggers, mesquitos, ticks, and black flies
