Bow vs. Gun
#12
When I first started hunting it was only with a bow. I just felt it was more of a challenge and fair for the deer. About four years ago I started using a shotgun and rifle just to give me more time hunting. I don't like to bowhunt when it is under 30 degrees. Two years ago I bought a muzleloader and the shotgun stays in the safe. It's more of a challenge knowing I only have one shot. I have to admit that it's not as intimate when I shoot a deer with shotgun or rifle. It just brings more satisfaction when I harvest a deer with a bow.

I have always been and will always be a hunter period. The weapon in my hand has nothing to do with the joy I get from hunting. I welcome the changes in the seasons that bring out my shotgun and muzzleloader. Most of the deer I kill with a gun are in bow range anyways. It's nice to change things up a little bit and use different tactics to hunt........gun hunting allows me to walk all over the place instead of just sitting on my stand all day.

I havent shot a deer with a gun since 1994. Its too easy.. I prefer a bow. Im the first member of my family to hunt with one.. The rest of them are gun hunters. They knew they had an archer on their hand since i was about 5.. I would rather shoot the bow than the gun.
I like the challenge of a bow better. I feel more accomplished when I kill something with a bow. with a gun. if i see it..its dead.

I have been bow hunting since 69'. I enjoy the thrill of harvesting an animal with a bow more than a gun. Just no comparison.
I bow hunted the entire bow and gun season with a bow last year but the last weekend of gun season I picked up my rifle and shot a 3x3 mulie just to fill my tag and put some food on the table. Usually if you see them with a gun you can get them, but with a bow, seeing them and getting them are two different things.

I use both firearms as well as my bow and I have hunted many many different types of aminals from big game to upland birds and everything in between. I just love to hunt. Each type of huntinghasit's own challenges.

I'm 15 years old, and I took my first deer last season with a shotgun. This year I'm using a bow, so I'm skipping out on the rifle. I had the option to use a .270, but to tell you the truth I don't really see as much a challenge or accomplishment in pointing your crosshairs at a deer a hundred yards out and shooting. Bows are going to be my only way hunting. All the bowhunters I know have told me that "once you go to bowhunting, there's no going back." I have had a lot of fun shooting bows.

You guys have some really good points of view. I appreciate everyones input. I can understand about just wanting to hunt regardless of weapon. I guess its just different for everyone. thanks guys
