I am a firm believer that you should practice all sorts of different positions

Stillhunt, all the guys here are correct in that you should practice from many different angles, and in many physical positions... i.e. in a treestand, on the ground kneeling etc.
You should also practice with any face masks, gloves etc. that you will be wearing this fall.
The rule of thumb on arrows is shoot as many as them until you become fatigued. Atired shooter will began to pick up bad shooting habits once he reaches physical exhaustion. Stop shooting when you get tired!

RE: Practicing with your bow
i shoot about 30 or so arrows or until i get shaky or have trouble drawing my bow. so far i have only shot standing but i'm going to start shooting from sitting and kneeling positions since i may be hunting from the ground some of the time. i usually practice once a week or so. but since school has started i don't have a ton of time to do it.
