I saw that episode , you guys are all kibbutzing a couple of admitted non-archers who were using a machine contrived for the "experiment" with very little knowledge of archery ballistics or equipment. The archers at the medieval fair weren't even able to hit the other arrow with trad gear period other than grazing, neither was the Mythbuster assistant who had an archery background and a modern compound with sights . The Robin Hood myth was indeed busted since absolutely nobody is that good a shot with archery equipment . Where a rifle shooter with precise hand loads and an accurized rifle could hold a group as small as 1/2 inch at 100 yards due to uniform bullets an archer has far more variables to contend with and unknowns that make consistancybeyond a reasonable grouping nearly impossible. Why anyone would want to destroy an expensive arrow on puproseis beyond me anyway . Nothing but ego and waste .
