bad news for a buddy
A buddy of mine has been watching some bucks in an alfala field from the highway near his house. Thursday night he watched the field with a spotting scope and watched three really nice bucks feeding in it until dark. First thing the next morning he headed to town, and as he passed the field, he spotted a really nice buck lying dead in the field about 50 yards from the highway. He stopped to check it out and it had been hit by a car, he called the local game warden, and he came out and issued him a permit to keep it, so he took the antlers to a taxidermist to have the velvet preserved. I guess this is one he wont be chasing this fall. While we were at the taxidernist, he taped it with the velvet at 143 4/8 inches, not bad at all..

There is a lot of tractor/trailer traffic on this road, so with the damage to the deer, he thinks there is a possibility of it being a big truck that hit it, but he doesnt know for sure, with the damage inflicted on the body of the buck,, if it was a car, im sure it is torn up pretty bad.

It couldn't have been around my deer lease.I just got on this one and have been on it from dawn to dusk about 20 times turkey hunting and hog huntingand still haven't seen a deer.It never fails when you get on one here Louisiana ,here comes the lumber company and cuts all the hard woods down and leaves short pines or bare land.[:@]
