Default TreeStand Height !

Howdy All ,

Well another treestand question !
I like hunting from hang ons during bow season, i'm hunting 22 to 24 feet up ,thats where i feel comfortable and ect. Is this high enough too get my scent up just in case a Deer sneaks in from behind me! Also Whats some good comfortable stands too hang in their on for all day hunts ?

Thanks Alot ,

You should be fine by going 22'-24' up.

Summit stands are great all day stands. I have only owned one treestand, a Summit Viper XLS, and it is great. I have heard severalgood thingsabout Summit's other stands.

I hunt from a 15' ladder stand, and have yet to get busted!!! (knock on wood!!!). If done correctly, one does not need to worry how high they go!!!!

That all depends on the thermals and the humidity and whether or not the wind is swilriling. Some days you will be fine and some days you won't. There really isn't a magic height because there are just too many variables involved. You are high enough in most cases so just wait for good winds to hunt the areas and then get after them! Also, I hunt all day quite a few times a year and I prefer the API Gand Slam Supreme.

Summit stands are nice.

I have been in stands form 8' up to over 30'

It all depends on the cover , branches and terain.

Likewise...I've been in stands 8' up and had to have 2 other small trees tied to the platform corners to make it solid....and it was almost the perfect spot! On average, I'm at 18-20' up.

In most of the areas I hunt I seldom see the need to go over 20 feet in terms of both visibility and scentability (is that a word?). However, I think SA is on to something. Height alone won't eliminate scent dispersal. Paying attention to all factors is the key.

I recently started a thread regarding this. It is a good read. Thought you might be interested in it.

15 ft and up is good but remember the higher you get the smaller the vital area becomes
