Then add to that $5............... Research and developement costs, building costs; operating costs like electricity, heating, air conditioning, phone, water, etc...; employee salaries, unemployment insurance, workmans compensation insurance, health insurance premiums, insurance for theft, fire, etc..., machinery costs, taxes, permits, and a whole lot of other things that it takes to run a business.

You go pay for all of that and see what you have to charge for a simple bow string.

We put a set on my Dad's Renegade, and the X-coat fell apart. He contacted them, and they required that he send the set back before they would send out new ones. It was almost as if the company didn't believe that they had fallen apart. We stripped the X-coat off of them, and they are fine, but with the response we got, I'll be trying some of the other string makers out there.

Haven't tried them, but my local shop hasnothing but great things to say about them. They say that they areevery bit as good as Winners Choice, at about half the price.

Another thing to keep in mind is we have amember here who makes custom strings that are supposed to be extremely good, and not too expensive. I believehis screenname is Gibblet.

I have Vapor Trails new VTX cable and string. It is excellent quality, I have no complaints, and it has never stretched or had issues. I do think there are several people out there that make high quality stuff though. With that said, I saved a ton of money over a WC setup, but I think the same quality of VT or WC can be found in a setup from one of the smaller guys out there that are hungry for business and have both value and quality.

With that said, my next set will probably be from gibblet. I don't care about a companies overhead or marketing costs, if you offer a quality product, good support, and a great price I will buy from you. I would like to experiment with a floating yoke anyhow, and gibblet is one of the few other than crackers that I think could pull this off with good support.

rick, you need a 3 color with a floating yoke. if you look at WC's 3 color from their custom shop - they go color 1, color 2, color 3, color 1, color 2, color 3... i can do that, or what i like is color 1, color 2, color1, color 3, color 1, .... it's twice as cool.

and hey, i got overhead, and an old lady that won't frikkin' give me any peace! i think i may trade her in LOL.

gibblet,

What colors do you have available? I don't need a new string now because my bow it new, but when I need one in the future I'm definately going to keep you in mind.
