G5 Montec Broadheads????
Has anyone tried these heads in 125 grain? If so I would like your opinions on performance and accuracy. Easy to tune? and penetration? are my main concerns. They look good on paper but first hand info is better than waisting 30 bucks
Thanks

RE: G5 Montec Broadheads????
I just received a new shipment of these heads yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised by a couple of changes in the broadhead compared to the ones I tested a some months ago. These changes in my opinion make an already good head better.
The first thing I noticed was that they were much sharper than the old ones. They shaved hair easily right out of the package. I wouldn't put them in same catagory as a steel force or Rocky Mountain for sharpness but for the design and thickness of these blades they are very sharp.
Also the ferrule has been beefed up. It comes down from the head straight with uniform thickness versus the old ones that had a narrow spot then got thicker and then back to narrow.
The "One piece" design helps to make these heads exceptionally tough. I must admit I have not taken an animal with one of these yet but I can assure you that will change come fall.

Hmmmm....Sounds like a good broadhead. I cant seem to ever be satisfied with one head. I usually end up switching throughout the season. Most recently ive been sticking with mechanical heads. Right now im pretty satisfied with NAP's spitfires, but im always on the look out for a better head.

I realy like the Monotec's, but Man I just can't justify the price on a truck drivers pay! They are a quality head though. I just may have to check out the new ones. The ones I tested were last years model.

Hey a big 10-4 on the price of those broadheads good buddy! (Forgive my paltry attempt at truck driving humor, my Dad also was a truck driver).
My hopes are to use them more than once or twice being that they have proved to be so tough in my testing. In my experience that is rather unusual in the broadhead world when it is a head that has at least three replaceable blades. For me usually it is a one and done deal. Then you either buy new heads or new blades if the ferrule isn't bent. In the long run they may save us money. (I'll believe that when I see it!) But I really won't know for sure until hunting season has come and gone.
