Kinetic Energy VS. game?
Where can I find out how much Kinetic energy it takes to pass thru or make clean kill on whitetails, elk, bear? Does anyone know or have a number they shoot for when picking out arrows, and broadhead weights?

There are way too many variables to consider to give a difinitave answer.
What type of broadhead - two blade cut to tip, three blade cut to tip, three blade chisle tip, four blade chisle tip, diameter of cutting surface, sharpness of blades
How heavy is your arrow? How large is the diameter of your arrow, aluminum or carbon, how many fletchings, how long are the fletchings, feathers or vanes.
How many ribs will you hit? Will you hit a shoulder going in or out?
What you should worry about is making sure that you have the correct arrow for your bow and that you have sufficent front of center with your arrow (10% - 15%). If you are shooting a modern compound you really do not have to worry about what your KE numbers are. You will have sufficent energy for all of the deer species you can hunt provided that your set up is tined corectly and you are useing a good sharp fixed blade broadhead.
Go to this link and you can determine your FOC, kinetic energy and momentum of your arrow. You can try different broadhead weights and different arrows to see which one would give you a good combination for your set up.

Let's see if I can get this right. http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/featu...ical_bowhunter. There 's a review entitled "Penetration, Much ado about nothing" It has some very good information for you.
