I just got my first compound bow at goodwill for $50 lol, its a pse silverhawk. I had my friend who's basically a beast at archery check it out and he was impressed. It has a new string on it, the limbs and cams are in great shape all in all well worth $50.

The draw weight is 45-60lbs
The draw length is 28-30"
I was wondering what kind of arrows I should get for it?
I'm assuming I need 30" arrows.

would any that are 30"-31" work? I know too short won't work and I'm assuming too long is bad as well

I was looking at aluminum arrows because it is a few years old but I was wondering if carbon arrows would work too?

*Obviously I need to practice A LOT before I'll attempt to hunt with my friend and he said he'd help me shoot and teach me stuff when it gets a little warmer

Also just any general tips to help me get started would be appreciated. Thanks

No you don't need 30" arrows. It depends on what your draw length is. I would suggest you go to a pro shop preferrably a PSE shop and they would be able to set you up with the proper draw length and the right arrows.

Great grab! My arms are long, and I shoot 32". As said, go to an archery shop, and they will help you get set up properly, and your friend should be able to help as well.

Well my arms are pretty long. I'll head over to my local archery shop and see what they have to say. I think there's one nearby.

but carbon arrows should be fine as well? because online they're about the same price.

Doesn't matter how long your arm is. The arrows have to be cut to the proper draw length the bow is set at. Head over to an archery shop so that they can measure your draw length and set the bow to fit you. At that point they can tell you what length arrows you will need. They can also help you with what spined arrow your bow will require. Hopefully you will buy from them because usually if you order arrows on line, you will still need to take them to an archery shop to be cut down. If they charge for this, factor this into the price of the online arrows when you compare prices to buying locally. If arrows are bought at an archery shop, they should not charge you the extra to cut them and glue in the inserts for you. Good luck. HD.
