It should be no surprise that the Razortec would get my vote if this was just a general situation. However, considering what you have been shooting you might want to try one of the newer bows that is closer to what you are accustomed to in terms of the specs of axle to axle length and brace height.

If you go Hoyt then probably the Protec or Ultratec would suit you better than the Razortec. Both of those bows will be lighter in overall mass weight when compared to the Alphatec and yet they will still offer large brace heights and long axle to axle lengths.

Mathews has some bows that might fit the bill as well...Conquest 3, etc.... but you will be hard pressed to find a more innovate cam system than Hoyt' s Cam and a Half. Smooth draw, very good speed, highly adjustable, etc....

Hope this helps.

I flat out love my Razortec. Having said that, as Frank said you may be more comfortable with the longer a-a on the Ultratec or the Cybertec.

I still think themathews are 1st class quality & I am very happy with my 3! really the Hoyt is a first class bow too so either way you won' t go wrong. I hav shot hoyts in the past & they are of the highest quality. Iwoudl say just keep trying them, one will end up feeling better to you.

Allseasonhunter7,

How can you say Mathews are not a good, accurate, and quite bow. I have shot many different bows (Hoyt, Bowtech, and Martins), and found all of them to be made of highest quality and each deserving the most respect. I choose the Mathews Q2XL, because it was the most comfortable and accurate bow I have ever shot. You may have done the same thing and found the Hoyt to be the best feeling bow to you. So encourage Azmedman to go out and shoot as many different bows as possible and let him choose for himself what bow is best for him.

Enjoy and respect the sport!!!!

Thanks for all of the opinions. I do fully intend to shoot a few of the hoyts and at least one of the Matthews. I like my alphatec, but as I said it is heavy and with such a long a-a lenght it is not very manueverable. So, while I will try the ultratec or even the cybertec, I am not ruling out the razortec. Based on your evaluation PABowhntr, I can' t not try the razortec. Again, thank you every one for your thoughts.

You cant go wrong with either! I currently shoot an Ultratec , but it' s about to become a backup bow. I tried the Mathews Icon and have never felt a smoother drawing bow. My Hoyt is great , but my shoulder has been hurting lately so I want to address the problem imediately.

I may even sell the Ultratec for a very reasonable price if anyone wants to email me.

2001 Ultratec w/command cams
39" ata
draw length 28 - 31" (?)
60 - 70 lbs
xt2000 limbs

Allseasonhunter7, That statement is ridiculous !!
Azmedman, I think you would like either a lot . I am going on my 3 rd Mathews , but I think Hoyt makes a great bow, as well as Bowtech,Archery Research, Merlin, etc.

Razortec for hunting and 3-D and spots and the Ultratec for the same. It' s hard for me to say which one is more accurate with the arrows etc that they are tuned for.
