You do need to go to a bow shop and shoot every single last bow they have until you find one that you like. I decided to go with a middle grade bow with upper end acsessories. I shoot a Bear Instinct. No its not one of the "Big 3's" but it's what fit me. It also comes with a lifetime warrenty. 305-fps will kill'em just as dead as 330-fps for about half the price. I have and Ultra rest, a Toxonics 5 pin sight, and shoot Easton ST full metal jacket arrows w/ 100 grn MX4 Muzzy broadheads. I love my bow, it shoots fast and flat and there is also alot of meatit the freezer.

I haven't bowhunted in about 15years and am now getting the fever again and in need of a new hunting Bow. I used to shoot touranments as well but not now. looking for a good hunting Bow. I looked at the Drenalin, The general and Hoyt which one would you suggest. The last Bow i shot was a Proline(like I said long time ago). So much more infro out there now and everyone promoting we are the best and the fastest. Any Ideas?
I am on the same boat man. Getting back into it after over 10 years. Better, faster, smoother toys out now. I haven't decided yet. I have a post called "Confused Newbie" in "Bowhunting" where people have been really helping me out on the same subject. Good luck!

My brother-in-law shoots an Instinct and I can tell you that it is accurate, pretty quiet and smooth. For the price, it is a value buy! He just got into archery and just split an arrow the other day. Some might call it luck but he gets tight groups at 20 yards. His bow with everything probably cost him $400.

I shot the dxt a few time and liked it. I really liked the short ATA, I am sure you will like it. Plus it’s really fast!

I ended up with a hoyt vetrix, I don’t blame you if there is no dealer with in a long range I probably would not have went with a brand if I could not get it worked on either. Funny I went out originally aiming for a Mathews then thought I wanted a bowtech guardian or general, but actually I liked the vetrix the most. The Hoyt Katara was nice and a little faster but also a little louder

Pretty much all of the brands out right now have at least 1 bow that will out shoot you or I easily and most brands have multiple bows that can do that. Technology has came a long way in the last 4-5 years.

Like a lot of others I also am thinking about a new bow. That being said I am now shooting a Darton Maverick that is about 6 or 7 years old. No it isnt as fast or even as quiet as some of the newer bows, but this year three shots 3 deer down. I have been in Archery since 1964 and every year something new and supposedly better comes out. There is no doubt things are quiter and faster but more accurate NO, accuracy is in the shooter and in the tuning of your equipment period. Yes sometimes we convince ourselfs that if we had that new bow we would shoot much better and usuall we do for awhile anyway. Mostly because we have a new toy and we play with it more and the more we practice the better we get but as the new wears off we tend to shoot less and go back to old habits it isnt the bow or the rest or the arrows it is usually us.
If you think it is the bow or the arrows or the rest just go watch Byron Ferguson (spelling) and you will see someone who is great at what he does.

Truer words n'er were spoken. A new toy seems to rev up one's enthusiasm and revive the spark. I used to buy a new high end fly rod every year, and I probably will do the same with bows. Just a little boy at heart. . . . .[8D]
