Default Newbie Mechanical ?'s

I have a Reflex Excursion 50-60 lbs draw weight and my draw is 26. I am able to max it out in wieght but now it is at 50-53lbs. Would this be suitable setup for shooting mechanical heads? If so what one's would be a good choice? Also will it enable me to not have to retune from fields to broadheads?

You could shoot a machanical. I don't know why you would want to if you can get the same field tip flight from a good fixed blade. Machanicals are trouble in my opinion. I've used them for years and to many things have gone wrong for me to feel comfortable shooting them. Use a good fixed head like a magnus stinger, slick trick, or montac g5. Same flight as field tips and getbetter penetrationthan a machanical.

i've used mechanical heads for years with out one problem,i would not use the ones i got because of your drawand poundage might be to low for swing type heads. vortex 2"cut
check out the snyper head itsa head that slides back to open, i think they might work. maybe someone with about the same setupthatshoots mechanicals will chime in.
if you have any doubts dont use them.

i must agree w/ tschammel on this one. there is a place for mechanical broadheads; that is for people who are taking 50, 60, and 70 yard shots in open country will gain benefits from the mechanial broadhead, but for those taking shots out to 40 yards there is really no need for a mechanical broadhead unless your bow is not properly tuned. Mechanics tend to fail; this is a sport where failure is not an option.
if you must use a mechanical i would recommend the rocky mountain snyper or theG5 tekan II. Better choices would come from the fixed blade family as noted above.

In your situation I would stick with a properly tuned, quality fixed blade to ensure maximum penetration.

Which fixed blade would be best with my setup as posted above? I tried the NAP Razorbacks COC fixed I did not like them, and I would like to try to keep scope adjustment to a minimal from fields to broads. Thanks for the info guys.

Alot of people seem to trash Mech heads on here. With your setup Id use the Rocky mountain Snyper head if you want mechanicals. I used them last year w/ great success, they have great penetration and accuracy. Two of my kills w/ them were over 35 yrds, neither animal went more than 30 yrds after the shot. One ran straight away and had blood spraying out both sides... That model doesnt take too much energy to open so it would be good for your setup. I'd never recommend the "over the top" opening type. No matter the setup.

I carry both Rocky Snypers and Magnus stingers in my quiver. I spent lots of time tuning my bow and can get both heads to group together at any range.. I dont know which I will use this year... probably the Mechs for deer and fixed for bear.

This is a typical situation where someone wants to use a mechanical broadheadas a crutch for shooting an un-tuned bow. You're shooting marginal KE energyfor a mechanical broadhead and you want to do it with an un-tuned bow. That's a disaster waiting to happen. The best yhing you can do is learn how to tune your bow so your fixed blade broadheads and fieldpoints fly to the same point of impact. It's easy to do.

Yeah, tune your bow so your fixed heads will fly straight. I could never bring myself to shoot a head that I have to HOPE opens when I can shoot one that already is.

Read through my link first off. You really need to find out your KE level to see right where you stand.
