I tried out the Fred Bear SQ32 in a bow shop a few months ago. To be honest, I didn't care for it. Maybe it's me, I don't know... It is real tiny but ruggedly built. Drawing it is er, uh, let's just say, "interesting". It is not really smooth. It's like you either draw it or you don't. There is a very abrupt wall and to describe it ina metaphore, it would be like cocking a rifle instead of smoothly drawing a bow.

$500 - 600? I would recommend HOYT. I think mobowhuntr would also agree. I have tried out Hoyts and thought I had died and went to heaven. They are that nice! But I didn't want to spend that much $$$$ on a bow, so I got their secondary line called Reflex, which are equally nice.
Mobowhuntr could give you all the advice and specs on Hoyts, I am sure....

The SuperSlam is indeed a great bow. The cam and a half (slam and a half, reflex terms) is just incredibly smooth. I would take a look at the LazerTec and PowerTec as well. Those 2 are the same with the exception of the limbs. The Lazer has glass limbs and the Power has carbon limbs. All that really means is about 5 fps and the carbon is impervious to extreme temp changes. Carbon is also a little quieter as well.
Take a look around, just like you are doing. For the money you are wanting to spend, you can get yourself a really nice bow. Another option might be to check out any used bows your shop may have. I know right now at ours I could pick up a 2004 UltraTec set up to the hilt for $550.
I can't speak too much on many others, but one did just come to mind. Not sure of the price, but you may also want to check out Ross. We just started carrying these and they are fast smooth and quiet.
