Ok,,,I'm a total newbie in Bowhunting and I've read a few things here about camo clothing. I've had my bow for about a year now, and have been practicing and feel that I'm ready for Oct. 1st. I'm also a duck hunter. I'll be bow hunting mostly in an area where I duck hunt, where there is a bit of everything, marshes, corn, grass,trees, ect. I use Advantage Max-4 camo in this area. I've noticed that most bowhunting camo is NOT Advantage Max-4. I'll probably be a ground hunter until I get a tree stand. So,,, I was wondering if the"types"of camo is really that important. Could Max-4 be a good choice for where I hunt? I've been reading about bowhunting clothing with "Sent-lock" quiet, breathable,waterproof,ect. Without getting too techinical,,,what a good choice for a beginner with limited $. I don't mind "layering" either. Any advice would be greatly apprieciated

Welcome to the forums Brett.

No need to go overboard on camo. In fact your Max-4 camo will most likely get the job done unless your in a spot where you stick out like a sore thumb. I think layering is the way to go when bowhunting. You can change your level of comfort by adding/removing garments.

If you're really looking for a new camo pattern I really like ASAT or Predator camo. They both do a great job at breaking up your outline and blending in with the surrounding environment.

I have to agree with JeremyK your Max-4 will most likely get you thru....

And again though if you really wanted some new stuff I'd go with either ASAT or Predator camo also...I've got some of the Predator Deception stuff and think it really works well at breaking up ones outline...

If you want a versital camo that will allow you to layer clothes, you should look at ASAT. ASAT doesn't blend you in, it makes you invisible. Check out this link for some pictures:

I was told that ASAT changed the design of their leaves. They are now more durable. I believe buckeyebuckhntr carries ASAT's new design.

You can try to find a camo that fits your area well but your best bet is not to try to blend in but is to try to break up your outline witch any camo will do. I'm sure your Advantage Max-4 will do great. Also if you hunt on ground alot try to find something with vertical ligns rather than horizontal becasue the vegitation on the ground is vertical. I would agree. As long as the pattern and colors help you blend into the environment then you should not have a problem.

I just purchased some Predator Deception and love it. It really breaks your outline up!!!
