Big groups with t7 in Omega ?
I've shot a pound of Pyro select and half pound of RS to find what it likes best. Loves the T\C .50(.452 black) 240gr. XTP with 80gr. pyro. Next would be a tie, Hornady 300gr. (.430 green) XTP over 90gr. pyro, and a 295gr. powerbelt over 90gr pyro. These will make clovers at 100 yards. I bought some t7 to play around with last week . I can't find anything that will group less than 3"- 4" at 100yd. I shot 180,240, 300 XTPs, SSTs and 295 powerbelts all with 90-80-70-60gr. of t7. With nothing to brag about. So I went back to the pyro, and everything was tight again? What am I doing wrong? I know I should load 15-20 % less t7 than loose pyro. Thanks wood-tick

Being you have an Omega.. next time you're at the range give some of those SST's and XTP's a chance with 100 grains of loose T-7. The Omega can shoot even more then that if you like but the recoil can get brutal.
Then again, if the rifle shoots great with Pyrodex.. then shoot pyrodex. Pyrodex is a great propellant.

Agree with Cayugad... as I do almost every time!
777 loose works better in 100-120 grains with the Omega. That rifle seems to do better with the 45/50 black magnum plastic sabot & the blue 40/50 sabot vs the green ones because of the heat produced by 777. If you switch to pellets, stay with the Pyrodex in the Omega. Most Omegas will shot three Pyrodex pellets (150) very well... even though T/C or Hodgdon no longer recommend using that much powder.

I don't know where you are but since you are trying 777 I suspect you are looking for a cleaner powder. I would suggest you try some American Pioneer Powder in the fffg form or better yet if you can find it some Black Mag'3 which shoots great in my stainless Omega .50. These two powders seem to shoot best with bullets in the 300gr. or heavier and with powder in the 80-120gr. range. I would not go over 120gr. with Black Mag'3 since 100gr. loads under a 300gr. bullet was producing velocity of 2004fps. in my Omega. By the way the recoil was less than the recoil I get with 777 that only produces 1650fps.

i shoot 100 gr pyrodex pellets and a 250 gr SST through my omega and its awesome. Not tries T7 or 150 grains, i dont think i need to. I get groups about an inch at 100 yards, thats good enough for me and any deer i see out to 200...
