I've got conical loads worked up that are really accurate at 125 yards.
With conical, also use a Wad and seat that first on the powder for a gas check.
I love shooting conical.

Also you can use the No13 on a patch, but just plain water or spit will serve the same purpose. When shooting sabot, I always shoot from a bone dry and clean barrel. I spit/alcohol/dry swab/patch inbetween each shot. You may need to swab more or less depending on fouling.

Flinching or pulling/anticipating can also cause a stringing effect. Make sure when the ignition goes it is a "surprise".

Hi,

It was a little muddy out there.

I will defiantly lighten the load. I’m pretty slow at loading it, and it was pretty cool out there last Saturday. The range officer did warn every one that there was no rapid fire,
at least 3 seconds between shots. I laughed.

Thanks,

Mike

I shoot a T/C Black Diamond XR with a 1.5 X 4.5 power scope. This was done off a bench rest at 100 yards. I have since upped the charge to 85 grains of Triple Se7en of Goex 3f and the accuracy is exceptional. Also I do not have to swab when I shoot these. They are a slip fit conical like the powerbelt. All I did was draw a cross in three places on a piece of pine board and put that out at the 100 yard range... I wanted to test some different powders with the No Excuses Conicals. Although Triple Se7en did the best job, I still shoot Goex 3f.

I see no reason why if you practiced with these they would not be good out to 150 yards. With that load of lead, there is a lot of down range energy.

One thing to remember, your rifle is new, but there is no reason why you should have to stand on your range rod to seat a projectile. When the sabot is that tight, it is time to change sabots..... Many times the sabots that come with bullets are not a good fit for your rifle. I found the Thompson Center Mag Express to fit best in my Black Diamond ....

good luck..

Thanks for the reply, and great shooting.

I was having problems loading 265gr Hornady and Harvester sabots. I found that the bullet were .430 44cal, causing the tight fit. I will try the NE Conicals. Should I seat conical directly on top of the powder?

Thanks,

Mike

Yes, seat No Excuses right on the powder charge. I only shoot 85 grains because if you go more the recoil can get a little brutal.

As for the Harvester Sabots in a T/C barrel, get some of the T/C Mag Express sabots and try them. For the .430 diameter I think the green .429-.430 should work just fine. Keep the charge around 100 grains.

I will not swear to this and Triple Se7en is much more up on sabots, but T/C used to be made by MMP I think. I used to have trouble loading Harvester sabots myself.... In fact I broke a short starter trying to get one down the barrel...

Is your breathing correct? Take a breath and let half out and squeeze. One of the first lessons taught by USMC marksman instructors is consistant breathing.
