RE: Winchester X-150, is it CVA knockoff?
Ok thanks because I bought 1 up at the Cabelas this weekend in PA & then found out that it was a CVA. Kinda stupid to buy then do research (I usually research a ton before buying), but it seemed like a good deal in the clearance shelf. I am not a huge CVA fan. I would rather have a Knight or a Thompson, but because I didn't have the $$ for 1 of those I bought this & now regret it. Anyone know what the value onit is?

Before you toss in the towel on the X-150, take a look at Randy Wakeman's review of this rifle;

I know a couple of guys that have the X-150 and they are good shooters and seem to be pleased.
Otherwise, you may be able to sell it at or close to what you paid for it with the warranty (unless you have already registered your warranty). Then deduct some for that.
Good luck!

RE: Winchester X-150, is it CVA knockoff?
I am in full agreement about not being a fan of past CVA products HOWEVER, do not be in a hurry to dump the Winchester X-150. Two years ago I purchased a Winchester X-150 in anticipation of uploading to 150 grains of powder for a bear hunt trip. After the purchase I learned that Winchester and CVA are almost one and the same but I kept the gun as I really like how it shouldered and it's balance. As of today, no bear trip has taken place but I have taken 3 deer with the gun using 100 grains of powder and 295 grain hollow point Powerbelt bullets. The accuracy of the X-150 at 100 yards with the Powerbelts (and a Leupold 2X7) shotgun scope) is nothing short of astounding--no more than 2" to 2 1/2" groups with consistency. Look at it this way, Winchester is not going to damage their name with an inferior product. Of note, if you do still have the gun, be prepared for shoulder pain if you practice a lot using maximun powder charges!

Before you put it on the auction block, read and follow the guidelines in the owner's manual. Keep your loads around 100 grains of powder and find the right projectile. I think you will find you have a great shooting rifle there... More then able to take any animal in North America.

It was on clearance for $207, then I had a $20 off coupon and there is a $50 Winchester rebate on the gun. I know it is a REAL good price but orginally I was wanting a Knight Disc Elite. Yes I feel I setteled but the price seemed right & I had very limited funds. Not sure on the whole CVA brand but maybe Winchester did there homework on this one. Also http://www.chuckhawks.com/index2h.muzzleloader.htm had a poor review on the Optima. Now I understand that you can find both good & bad reviews on just about everything that can be purchased these days.
