cva buckhorn rifle
My brother-in-law just won a cva buckhorn rifle, I don't know alot about cva rifles, ( I'm a Thompson Center and knight guy) if anyone could help with any information I can tell him on this ( loads, bullets, powder, etc. ) we would really appreciate it. Thanks

RE: cva buckhorn rifle
Congrats...Good for him! That rifle replaces the CVA Staghorn 209. Shoots best with moderate powder charges 80-110 Pyrodex equivalent loose). Best sabot/bullet grain size are from 240-300 grains. I'd guess to say a 240 gr T/C Cheapshot -- 300 gr. Hornady XTP or 250 gr. T/C Shockwave with 90 grains might be a good starter/finisher load. Hard to tell exactly because ML rifle bores vary gun-to-gun. Another bullet to try is the 348 gr Powerbelt.

That replaced the Staghorn. I have a Staghorn and it is a great shooting rifle. As long as he does not push the rifle too hard it will shoot amazing groups. I found with mine, 90 grains of Goex FFg or Pyrodex RS was the magic charge. It shoots 300 grain XTP's and even 240 grain very well, but if you want to see good groups shoot the 348 grain Powerbelts.
Tell him congratulations... he is a lucky person.
