First , price is a issue with me.I would like a encore ,but just to salty. I must also consider the weight since Im disabled.I seen and held the Omega .50 cal. It is light ,short and opens like a single barrel shotgun to put the cap in,which seems easier then the bolt type..Seems easy to handle.I never shoot over 75 yards. Also what benefits is the stainless barrel ? Would this be a good choice??????? thanks I need some comments,I'm not a experienced blackpowder person. Also a comment on a reasonable scope for it.I would only be using it 4 days out of the year,so i dont want to buy a lincoln just to drive to the corner store.

All my inline muzzleloaders are blued. There is not a spec of rust on any of them. I clean them thoroughly after each day of shooting. Get the best scope you can afford. A straight 4X works well. I hope you like shooting BP. Have fun.

My friend just bougth one Omega, and a couple of week ago, we test it
on the bench, with 2 X 50 grains pellets and 300 grains T/C sabot, and it shoot very well to 100 yards, so no problem with that gun it is very easy to clean also, so buy it and enjoy it.

I like the Encore better plus you get a lot more gun for the money. It sounds like you described the Encore when you said you like the break open action and shorter gun? I know that the Encore with a 26" barrel is shorter and handier than the Omega. I've shot the Omega and did not see any advantage over the Encore. Just my .02 worth, you are the one that knows what feels the best.

Well I appreciate all the comments. I just dont want to put out the money for the encore, but it is nice.I will only use this 4 days out of the season.I'm basically a bow hunter, and we only have a week of inline muzzy huntin in Pa. The rest of the muzzy season is flintlock only.

Hello Cardeer,
You may want to check out the Thompson Center Arms "Wildcat". Cabela's catolog (cabelas.com) 1-800-237-4444; @$200. It has 22" barrel, 41 1/2" overall length (so short it's sweet)and the same barrel for accuracy as the Omega and Encore, not to mention a whopping 1 1/4 lb. lighter. Cabela's also sells this weapon with a scope and rings option for $249 complete. This is no Caddy but it will for sure get the job done at an entrance level price.
