RE: Walmart
I'm in N. Idaho, the closest sporting goods store to me is 45 mi away - I'll keep shpping at Walmart. Capitalism is a rough road, but it's the road I prefer to travel on - and Walmart, if nothing else, provides an excellent example of it every day.

RE: Walmart
Great price on the Black Diamond at Wallmart!
Off topic of the original bulletin and subject which was a great deal on ML gear... Well, I usually always try to get the best deal I can, although I never shop at Wallmart for personal reasons. However, I also try to steer my business to the Mom & Pop stores. I don't expect them to compete fully price-wise as they cannot negotiate the wholesale volumes as the large chains, but I do expect them to make an effort to offer a reasonable price and still make a fair profit. If the smaller shop will make the effort to deal reasonably, then they will not only get my business but my trust as well. Sometimes on big ticket items the cost savings are such that you just cannot afford not to buy at the bigger chains as was the case on a recent scope I pruchased. |
RE: Walmart
Geez, I just wanted to tell you about some bargains, I ain't making no political statement![:'(]

RE: Walmart
T7 youll wish you HAD spent that $80 with ma n pa when you get laid off. That $80 might not stay in your household when you spent it with ma n pa but it WOULD stay in your own town/state. How much of it stays there when you spend it with WallyWorld? They pay corporate taxes that go too federal and state beauracrats. The construction of their stores is handled by a large conglomerate that you likely have never even heard of and most likely NONE of your buddies helped or benefited in its building. The mgmt of the store may or may not be local (typically they are brought in and arent there longterm). The rest of the store is hourly employees who make half what they did when they were on an assembly line producing American made products. I wont even go into what the chinese are being paid to produce those same goods now.
Im as big a fan of capitalism as there is. I am a walkin example of its beneifts. BUT this business model that is Wal Mart IS destined too failure, unregulated "free trade" benefits only those who import the goods which thereby export the jobs!!! But unfortunately its our children who will have to pay that lesson. Im NOT tryin to be personal guys, just puttin the facts out in black and white. Unfortunately to many dont care until THEY loose THEIR jobs and then they want to blame someone else, RA ps T7 lemme also ask you a question. Why do you favor the Waltons making more and MORE of your money to buy new cars, planes, estates, business' etc. Yet you somehow hold a grudge against a local entreprenuer making anything other than a meager living from a community that they live in and share interest in with yourself and your own family? I will NEVER understand such philosophy. |
RE: Walmart
Wasn't trying to get political either and I am sorry I offended those of you that already know everything.
I have only been shooting ML for 31 years so I must just be kind of slow because I certainly don't know everything yet. Or, maybe,I'm still open to others ideas? The fact remains that you will not get many ideas at Walmart. I have bought stuff at Walmart too. I just said I prefer to buy my stuff from a person that might actually share my passion for shooting and hunting. |
RE: Walmart
i work at wal-mart so look for the red tags where the yellow tags are for stuff that they want discon for the season cause we don't want to put it back in the back room.......................bob

RE: Walmart
You Guys are kiling me with this hate Wal-Mart stuff.
Do you hate the wolf that takes down the fawn or the old crippled buck? No its the cycle of nature and there is nothing to feel bad about. I am a small business owner and am coming to the close of my first year in business. I lost money this year. That is common for start up operations. If I fail the answer will be found in the mirror not the walmart. I dont resent people who had a better idea than me an profitted by it. If anything I admire them. And as far as them using that money to buy luxury cars and things,,Its their money! They have the right to do whatever they want with it. and I say good on em. Survival of the fittest applies to the free market and capitalism too. I just hope I am fit enough. But, if I'm not that just tells me I need a better idea and a better plan to sell it! |
RE: Walmart
No store squeezes their suppliers like Walmart does. A small candy company in my area was put into bankruptcy by Walmart. They would place huge orders contingent on deep discounts and then string the payment out for a up to a year. The company just couldn't carry that expenditure for that amount of time. Their employees needed their paychecks now. Their suppliers need paid now. Walmart does this with all it's suppliers. Even Scott Paper, a huge corporation, gets squeezed by Walmart. This is what evolving monopolies cause.

RE: Walmart
There is an easy answer to this Walmart discussion. Those of you who don't like Walmart - don't shop there. It's your money, spend it where you want. Really, I don't care where you choose to spend your money. What I don't get is why are you so vocal about where I spend mine?
