Default Anybody patch a Maxihunter?

I used to shoot maxihunters out of my T/C hawken. But the bullet would actually move from where seated. I used the wads they sale. Same thing, but at least kept the powder put. This usually happened when I was raising my gun in the tree stand muzzledown. I never tried patching. Anyone tried it?

I have the same problem with a 54 cal. lyman deerstalker. I have often thought about using a thin patch but have never tried it hope you get a responce.

That's a bad situation. I wouldn't deal with patches. Change bullets. Try a maxiball, they have more bearing surface to engage the rifling at loading. If your gun likes maxihunters it should shoot Maxiballs just as well if not better.

Another thing you can try is to take some teflon plumbers tape and put about two wraps around the projectile. I do this to minnies all the time because if I don't I can shake them back out the barrel. You don't have to lube the tape but try it both ways for accuracy. I have shot a lot of the minnies, never found the tape and never had it hurt the barrel of the rifle....

just an idea I use..
