Default Buffalo Bullet SSB 375 grain sabots.

For those of you that have not tried these375 grain BUFFALO BULLET SSB bullet/sabot combinations I would suggest you might want to consider them. I had read some posts from another poster on the board known as Triple Se7en. Having read his posts and respecting his opinion I decided to try some of these sabots.

Yesterday I was out in the yard testing some NO EXCUSE CONICALS 460 grain at 88 steps (about 92-93 yards). I had a new shooting bench I was also testing which is proving excellent also... I was having an excellent day. It was in the low 70's buy windy. They shot fantastic. As I was about to call it a day the UPS man showed up with a large box from Cabela's. MORE BULLETS... I decided to try the the Buffalo Bullet sabots.

I field cleaned the rifle to give them a fair chance. I put up a new target and my first three shots hit about an inch and a quarter high over the bulls-eye (the no excuse conicals were dead on). The three shot group was more then respectable. Outside edge of the group to outside edge measured one inch exactly. I was shooting 100 grains of Goex FFg thinking that this would equal two pyrodex pellets or be close. I was giving the barrel a real good swabbing between shots.

The second group was hard to believe... I adjusted the point of aim on the target in the scope and shot the second three shot group. The only problem is I could not find the third shot. This means one of the hits was in the same hole or I missed a 20X24 inch piece of backstop cardboard with the missing phantom shot. I can see two distinct hits but the third I could not actually point at and say ... yes there is the third hit. Although one hole looks a little larger then the other coming off it.

I then decided to see how they shot from now a filthy unswabbed rifle and they still held a good group but hit two inches to the right. Whether the fowling caused this or the fact I had already fired over 30 rounds out of the rifle this day, who knows. I will do somemore testing with these.

Triple Se7en has given me some excellent advise in the past reference cleaning products and other things... As usual he hit right on the money when he suggested these sabots.. Thanks for the tip!! These spitzer style bullets would be an excellent hunting load.

Cayugad, That is some Very Impressive Results, using my Favorite Bullets. They sure do Shoot well. Ive never given the 375 a Spin yet, but seeing your Results, I just may have to Pick up Several Boxes. Do you find that GOEX, is more Consistent and Accurate as compared to Pyro or Triple 7? Im thinking of Switching over to Goex fffg, in my Knight Elite. I was told, that Goex will out shoot Triple 7 and Pyro ? Couldnt tell You ! Ive only shot Triple 7 out of mine. Your Opinion is Welcome.

Of all the projectiles I shoot in all my different rifles, Goex will shoot as good or better then the other powders. This is not true all the time mind you. Here is a good example of where Triple Se7en seemed to shoot a better group then the Goex. I also have a .54 caliber sidelock that shoots roundball excellent with Triple Se7en but it does almost as good with Goex FFFg. You would not want to live on the difference between the two.

I started using Goex for reasons of cost. I used to shoot only Pyrodex or Pyrodex P. Then I started shooting Triple Se7en and liked the way it shot also. Well I bought what I thought would last me for the year at the anual Wal Mart sell all the black powder stuff off sale but I guessed wrong. When I went to get more powder they did not have any. The other stores were charging almost double what I payed before for the stuff from Wal Mart. Being the way I am, I ordered a case of Goex on line from Powder Inc. thinking that would hold me over. Well I started shooting the Goex and was getting some excellent results, so I decided to stick with the stuff.

The Goex FFFg still produces fowling but not all that bad. After all we did not get in this sport to keep out fingers clean. We have powder smears, fowling smears, and conical lube or patch lube all over us by the end of the day.... I love it...

I also started shooting flinters so Goex is a must. Actually I can tune a rifle a little better with the Goex and the cost is much nicer when you buy a case then it is getting a pound here and there. I shoot almost every day so I go through a lot of powder......

Glad you like em' Cayugad! Lots of folks including ML book authors, Doc White's group in Africa.. even the new Knight Triple Shock bullets look like a copper-clad Buffalo S.S.B... only in a different dress. I got Maxiball to try em' around a year ago & now he raves about em'. Buffalo needs to do a better job promoting these bullets cuz' they;re sure hard to find in most ML stores.

I ordered them on line and I am going to order a couple more boxes right away. I have a few other items I need to pick up for the flinter, so yes I do like them. After reading your posts and recommendation I thought you would not intentionally steer anyone wrong... these things are great...

I ordered them from Cabela's online. In fact I just ordered another two boxes. These things load like a dream and are not all that bad in the recoil department. I sure like the way they group too.

I have shot those two bullets you mentioned. The 440 grain did not work for me at all. In fact I ordered a box of them and still have some left. I am debating whether to melt them down for other bullets or just shoot them off for fun.. They just would not group the way I wanted unless I went with a real low, and I mean low charge. The 450 grains did all right. They are just a real pain to load because they are so long....
