Default Thinking of using .475" in a 50 cal

I was thinking of trying .475" XTP-Mag bullets from hornady that are meant to be used in a .475 linebaugh pistol and use a harvester sabot meant for .475 in a 50 cal muzzleloader. Think it would work out with a thinner sabot. Might peel away quicker.

It should work. They only thing you might experience with a thinner sabot is the effect of powder heat, although with todays plastics I am sure they have that under control. I shoot a .457 diameter out of a .458 Knight sabot with excellent results.

The best thing to do is give it a try... good luck and let us know how it works.
