Does anyone know the shelf life of Pyrodex? Its been stored in original container, with cap closed tightly. Also inside of a Steel gun cabinet with desicant. The powder is about 3-4 yrs old, but its like 3/4 lb. So I was wondering if its safe to shoot, and if not, how to get rid of it.

as long as it never got wet, it should be fine. I have had Pyrodex for many years and have never had a problem with it. I store it in the original container, and in a steel locked file cabinet is all.

Shelf life of Pyrodex is determined not by time, but by the amount of moisture to which it is exposed in storage. If it's kept dry, it'll last a long time. If it is exposed to too much moisture, it LOSES power. It does not become dangerous to use, but it will not give good ballistics if it absorbs a lot of humidity.
