Pyrodex shelf life
#2
I have also heard that Pyrodex has a shelf life of about one year. I have had some now for going on four, and it seems fine when I shoot it, so I am not sure what the shelf life is. I think the main point is keep it dry. I will have to go the the Pyrodex web site and see what I can learn... until then ... good shooting

according to Mike Daly Pyrodex Director of Customer Service, Pyrodex shelf life is just like black powder. It is fine unless contaminated by some outside source. So keep it dry and keep it as long as you like......

Thanks cayugad!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> That's pretty much what I figured, since I shot my gun over the weekend with 5 year old pyrodex, and shot a 1.5" group.
Like you, I've heard alot of folks say it's only good for a year, but obviously that's just not the case. I've always kept mine in a climate controlled environment, and it's never seemed to shoot any different.
