Default loss of accuracy

I have a TC Renegade 54 cal.It is about 15 years old .It always shot good groups. Most years I would shoot pirodex with maxiball or maxi hunter. This year I bought clean shot powder and powerbelts for something new.The more I shot the worse my groups became.Even after cleanings and switching back to the pirodex and maxiballs my groups are terrible.I have an aimpoint electronic dot for my scope.Yes the screws are tight. Is it my gun OR my scope??

Try switching back to your old load and see if your accuracy comes back.

Soory guess I should have read more carefully I would also try with open sights to see if that helps your problem.

I would clean the devil out of the rifle first, and then just start trying to find the load all over again. Start from scratch and resight in the rifle..

I had a rather funny experience the other day shooting my .54 Renegade. I was shooting and every shot was three inches to the left. I mean to tell you I was stumped because this is a good shoot rifle. I finally started checking and found the screw that holds the back peep sight in place was loose. I reset the peep and the rifle was back to normal.

This is the new conicals I am shooting in the Renegade and so far I am real pleased with the way they shoot and the hitting power they are showing. I am getting some real good expansion out of the pure lead.

Your loss in accuracy is probably due to plastic fouling the rifling. Use a wire brush and some nitro solvent and clean it out. Don' t shoot sabots through it . Go back to large conicals and moderate powder charges 80-100 gr. you should get your accuracy back.
