Does the set trigger on a TC Patriot pistol usually need to be set before the hammer will latch in the half cock, or full cock position? I was loaned one with a broken seer in order to make a replacement. The tang that the trigger mechanism strikes to release the seer was broken off, but as far as I can measure, I have duplicated the original seer exactly.Since the new seer in produced on a CNC mill, I can easily make more so I started removing some metal on the underside of the seer tang on one of the prototypes. By time I had removed enough metal to allow the hammer to want to latch with the trigger not set, it no longer wanted to trip properly. Since I know some locks are designed to have the trigger set before the lock will latch correctly, I have come to the conclusion that this lock must be of this type.

The Patriots are Backwards to a Renegade/Hawken, The Front Trigger on the Patriots is to “Set” and the Rear trigger is the Pull. You Cock the Hammer, then Pull the Front trigger to “Set” the Rear (Make the Pull lighter)
i bet the Set trigger adjustment is out of Wack? The little Screw between the Triggers. With the Hammer all the Way down on the nipple, Pull the Front “Set” Trigger, does it Hold, or not? If not, Back the Little Screw Between the Triggers off (Counter Clockwise) About 1 full Turn, Now try and Pull the Front Trigger to “Set” it, it Should hold now, if not Keep Backing the Little set Screw out until it Holds.
Once you get the “Set” to Hold, Keep the Hammer in the lowered Position, Pull the Front Trigger til it Clicks “Sets” Now Slowly turn the little adjustment Screw in (Clockwise) Until it Releases, Take note of where the Screw driver is Oriented when it Releases, Now back the Adjustment Set Screw off (Counter Clockwise) 1 Full turn. I like a 1/2 Turn, But i am VERY adapted to really light triggers.
After reading the above, If you stil don’t understand this, Send me a PM with a Number and i can Walk you Through it.

I was already aware of the backwards set trigger on the Patriot pistol, that is one reason I prefer the Trapper pistol due to the standard set trigger layout. The set trigger will set & trip properly with the hammer forward, however; I will double check it for proper adjustment.
