Unsupported Shooting

Painted a fresh target. Made an attempt at adjustment of the sling and tried to concentrate MORE on follow through.
Next 4 shots from 85yds.

Still not exactly where I want to be with this loop sling use but I've identified another problem area. This is a sure sign of not having TRUE skeletal bone on bone lock up prior to firing.

Paint the target and move to 95 for an apples to apples try at it. In an attempt to get more solid bone on bone lock I discovered this 20 round mag is a problem. It's right where I want to put my support hand to really stretch everything tight and still get the support elbow dug in to my hip.

By this point I feel the loop sling is pretty much adjusted darn close to where I'm going to want it any time, at least a best bet starting point. So I stretched it out on the stock and scratched a setting in the camo paint so I can always come straight back to THIS POINT regardless of future changes.

Like has been said it takes a little practice DOING the thing you are trying to do. BUT you also have to be able to diagnose the 1's and the 5's.
I can't just jack it up 8 clicks to compensate for dropping my arm on the follow through and hope I keep making the same error exactly the same every time. The practice only pays when it's practice getting better. If the rifle is on the money, a couple bench shots, and then it's not when I change positions. Then it's not the gun that needs "fixed".

Suggestion..........
If the rifle is shooting to the desired POI off a bench, then the groups drop but are fairly centered shooting off hand, then there "may" be the anticipation of the recoil and the shooter may be pushing forward. Tightening the fingers or grip in anticipation is also known to cause the POI to be lower.
These things happen to many of us and we don't even know we're doing it. Just like some shooters close their eyes anticipating the rifle's recoil.
However, all the off hand targets shown, are pretty darn nice targets.

Combined with shooting a heavy rifle with light recoil, AR15, and the better results with an effort in that direction has me convinced here at least. A lighter trigger will also help this sometimes.
A large obstacle here is "old fat guy" syndrome as well.
I've got years of beer, cup cakes, and diabetes between me and being this poster boy.

But knowing what you want to be TRYING to do can help any body improve and get better. For me it's not about how good you are, it's about how good CAN I BE. How good can I HELP YOU BECOME. If it helps it helps. I'm paying attention to the thread like everyone else, looking for things I think will help to achieve a goal.
Other than skipping cupcakes.
