I'm with you SuperHunt. Hate wool for the exact reasons you describe. Perhaps it's a locality/humidity thing.

We can't sweat in Colorado. It's rude.

Then I've been extremely rude in just about every state in this country with huntable numbers of the deer family Cuzz you can bet I have sweated on every single hunt I've been on!! Like you Pete, I'm built like a dang Brown Bear and I hate the heat just about as much. Over 60 and I'm halfway miserable!

True, I do hate the heat. That's why I wish our muzzy season was later in the year instead of mid Sept.

Seems like i started wearing heavy wool Malone pants hunting elk about 1966. Most times i wore boxer shorts to keep the wool from chafing. Never had a bit of a problem, and feel wool is a god given wonder for hunters. The wool Malone pant were perfect for hunting in Montana. Wool doesn't hold moisture, and is quite warm; even wet, and warmer than most everything else. However, i cannot no way imagine wearing wool in Louisiana.

Van, i must say, i agree, it may be the locality/humidity/heat.

I too prefer to hunt with traditional flintlock rifles throughout the entire deer season. I don't know that one type of stock is any better than another. I do believe that there is an advantage to the scoped inlines designed for the most modern bullets in the market now, but they are not for me. There are a wide range of muzzle loading rifles and supplies out there and my advice is to buy and use what you want. Flintlocks and patched round balls for me.
